We are super excited to welcome this stunning grey colt to our program as a future stud prospect! OstFin convinced us with his amazingly high quality pedigree, his powerful and correct hind end and his typey expression. We are beyond excited to see what his future holds here with us.
OstFin was bred and born in Sweden and imported by us to the USA in late 2024.
He is sired by the Norwegian stallion Nygårds Gurven (Fjell Fin x Hoyland's Luna by Frederik Skovå). Nygårds Gurven sired the 2024 "Dagens Hest" , stallion (best in show) at Norfjordeid with his son Birkelid Truls. Nygårds Gurven is approved for breeding in Norway, Sweden and Denmark and was best in show himself in Sweden earning 44p.
OstFin's mother EdelFin is sired by no less than the legendary grey stallion Brijol, who is approved in 7 European countries, more than any Fjord (to our knowledge) has ever achieved! He received scores of 43.5p respectively in Norway and was also "Dagens Hest" at his stallion testing in 2015. EdelFin's dam is a mare we have been following for a few years, the Danish bred mare Hojgaard's Iwana. Iwana is sired by the famous stallion Trollfin and her mother's sire is the Norwegian stallion Monolitt. Monolitt is the sire of Denise's first Fjord in Germany and she has met and loved multiple Monolitt offspring over the years. All in all, OstFin has a super high quality pedigree and is bringing fresh blood through Nygårds Gurven, Trollfin and Monolitt into the North American gene pool.
We appreciate OstFin's balanced conformation and correctness of movement. He is exquisitely built through his hind end and stifle. His head is typey, pretty, yet masculine and we love his expressive markings contrasting his beautiful grey coat color.
We are planning on breeding OstFin to a limited number of our mares in 2026.He will not be available for outside mares. Stud colts will only be available with a gelding contract.
