Kian is a NFHR blue evaluated Danish import stallion with exceptional linage and fantastic movement. We are excited to get this Oldie but Goldie for his final productive years up to the Pacific Northwest and influencing our program (and hopefully others) with his outstanding ...
Kian Klattrup was imported to the USA from Denmark in 2002 by the Nors family in California.
His father is the Danish stallion Cadeau Halsnaes, who was licensed in DK with an average score of 8 and high scores of 9 for his trot and shoulder/withers. Cadeau goes back to the very influential red dun Plutonikk daughter Koket Halsnaes, who produced Pikant Halsnaes (by Knast Halsnaes) and Granat Halsnaes (by Ørjar N.2623), but was this time paired with Orion Halsnaes (by Knast Halsneas) to produce Cadeau's mother Tea Halsneas, who was then bred to Ørjar to produce Cadeau Halsneas.
Ørjar, who is a Norwegian native and got approved in Norway with Karat, has sired the most influential Fjord stallions in Denmark including Golf Gudenå, Granit Halsnæs, Granat Halsnaes, Fjordbækken's Sidan and "grandsired" with Kneist Skovå, Orkan Skovå and Storm Skovå.
Pikant Halsnaes received the highest evaluation scores of any Fjord Stallion ever in the Danish system.
Kian's mother, Sascha, isn't any less popular as she is also the mother of the Danish stallion Citrus Klattrup (by Pikant Halsnaes). Citrus produced the stallion Kastanjegarden's Hannibal, who has been a huge asset for the German breeding stock and has been awarded twice with the title of Bundespråmienhengst. Citrus has a few offspring that got imported to the US, including Hojgaards Gaja imported by Pat Wolfe and has earned a NFHR blue ribbon (82p for conformation and movement, draft (91p), driving (87p) as well as many titles in competitive driving. Also imported by Pat Wolfe was Hirse Klattrup, who Dan owned for a few years and we are currently having her granddaughter, DD Haldora (by Siljar), in our breeding program.
Sascha's sire Husar Halsnaes has played an important part in Danish breeding as well and has produced the grey dun stallion Max, the sire of Vikkelsoe's Kunst, who was one of our guest mares and has produced for us DD Sunnyside Valia (by Smedsmo Graen) and DD Sunnyside Vivian (by Siljar). Husar also produced the red dun stallion Boye Engvang.
All in all Kian Klattrup's pedigree reads like the melting pot for the most influential Norwegian Fjord stallions and mares over the last 50 years in Denmark. The added benefit of an older Danish stallion is that these lines have not been crossed with each other again, meaning that his inbreeding coefficient is very low.
Kian has a very sweet disposition and is adjusting to his new life in the PNW.
We really liked the 2022 cross between our stallion Siljar and the Citrus Klattrup granddaughter. Therefore, we have decided to breed Kian to our Siljar daughter DD Princessa for 2023 and are very excited to welcome our first Kian foal.
Kian is available via live cover only. His stud fee is $500, which includes a 50% non refundable booking deposit. Mare care is $13/night.
