Helena is a beautiful white dun mare that you will fall in love with just seeing her pretty face! She joined our herd in August 2019 as a 14 year old maiden mare. She convinced us with her pedigree, but exceeded our expectations with her movement! She is a stunning mare in all ways!

Foal
Helena had her first foal in August 2020! DD Malibu is a beautiful white dun colt by Maximus (Bakkens Marius x Bluebird Lane Oriole by Mogly)! Helena exceeded our expectations with her second foal, a white dun, red and grey recessive filly by Tsjalle. DD Hera is going to stay in our program!
But with her third foal, Helena outdid herself and produced a yellow dun filly by Gio! Yellow duns are the most rare color of Fjords with less than 0.1% of the breed. DD Helana, Lana for short, is certainly a diamond.
Helena produced an amazing brown dun filly sired by Gio in early 2024. DD Hazel is so far the biggest foal produced and the longest Helena has ever carried. Hazel has a super dishy face, long legs, long hip and an outgoing personality. Hazel is going to Texas once weaned to the sister of Helena's breeder - we can't be more happy for both!
In addition to Helena's foal, her son DD Malibu was bred to LVG Fakis and Havenwood's Jorun for 2024, so Helena has a couple grandbabies on the ground with DD Matteo and DD Merkur. Merkur will be breeding a couple mares at DDungård in 2026 before leaving for his new home in Minnesota. Helena's daughter by Tsjalle, DD Hera, is expecting her first foal sired by Gio in 2025.
Since we absolutely LOVE the cross with Gio, so we bred Helena back to him for 2025!
Helena is sired by the red dun stallion OH Wynn by Flotren. Wynn received a blue ribbon for conformation and movement in the NFHR evaluation system and has competed at USDF recognized events up to First Level with scores up to 71%.
OH Wynn is sired by the Norwegian import stallion Flotren, who Dan used to own for a few years. Flotren received a 2. premie in Norway and in the USA he earned a NFHR blue ribbon in conformation and movement with 84.75%.
Helena's dam, FC Madellin, was entered in the NFHR Hall of Fame for the quality of her offspring. Foals out of Madellin include Ironwood Xander, who is competitive in dressage up to Second Level and is super successful in combined driving, as well as the blue ribbon evaluated sons Ironwood Lordalen and Ironwood Premiert (both sired by Ironwood Blitzen). Madellin's sire Modellen was a 3. premie Norwegian import stallion, who also produced the stallion Anvil's Morgen,who Dan used to own for a few years as well. Out of Anvil's Morgen we retained his granddaughters Greta and Havenwood's Jorun as well as great granddaughter Zelda.
Helena is a very elegant and refined mare who we had an eye on for a couple of years before we unexpectedly had the opportunity to purchase her and bring her to WA. Helena was proven herself to be an excellent mother and valuable broodmare for our program and we are enjoying her sweet disposition every day. Besides Helena's job as a broodmare in our program, she is also our babysitter for our annual yearling/ 2-year-old herd. Due to her age and lack of training in her formative years, we feel it is in Helena's best interest to live out her life at DDungård and do what she does best - being a mom!
