Jorun joined our herd in February 2018. We liked her bloodlines and knew she was very cute, but were not expecting her to become our best moving mare. Besides that, she is super sweet and personable. She has met us at the gate since her first day here at Dungård.
Jorun really surprised us in 2019 with the quality of her first foal, a breathtaking white dun filly (red and grey recessive!) by Siljar. DD Jorina will be retained for the program and we are super excited to have her!
In 2020 Jorun produced her second filly with DD Joline by Tsjalle. Joline is absolutely gorgeous, but we have send her out to a wonderful home to represent our genetics and breeding program on the east coast and we will hopefully be seeing her on the show circuit soon!
All good things are three, so we decided to try Jorun with our new stallion Gio and she produced a stunning red dun filly in March 2022 with DD Joy!
Jorun's 4th foal was another stunning filly by Gio, born on Easter Sunday 2023 and named DD Josefina.
Jorun had her first colt, DD Matteo, in April 2024 sired by DD Malibu. We are a little bummed that for once she didn't bless us with a filly, because this particular breeding was a "one time possibility". However, Matteo is super adorable, with excellent conformation and movement! We are excited to potentially be crossing her in the future with our retained Malibu son DD Merkur.
For 2025, Jorun is confirmed in foal to Siljar again!
Jorun is an Anvil's Morgen granddaughter, same as our favorite performance mare Greta. We were hoping to add some of the Anvil's Haugull genetics to the breeding program in the future, and are very happy to now have such a nice granddaughter of his.
Jorun has extraordinary movement with a lot of spring and elevation. She has a lot of bone, but is still very elegant. Her neck is clean, which will make it easy for her to flex and round under the rider. Jorun is started under saddle and in the cart both single and as a tandem wheeler. She has shown a super good temperament for a driving horse.
We can not wait to see how she will develop as a performance horse, but are also excited to see what she continues to produce.
