Wenar was bred in the Netherlands by Simone Dassen and Fjorden Stal De Heale Moanne. He is sired by the French bred stallion King d'Ober, who is currently owned by Hengstenhouderij Hestegaarden in NL and the Dutch mare Perle FY.
King combines the German lines of Ilmar and Merlin. We have met Ilmar in Germany in 2017 and fell in love with his calm and gentle disposition. Merlin was bred in Germany and later exported to France. His roots are similar to those of Mogly and Tico. King is standing solid 15hh and we are expecting Wenar to mature similarly tall.
Wenar's dam is sired by the Norwegian bred stallion Rudsmo Rune and out of a Lyckängs Tempo (bred in Sweden) mare. The combination of Rudsmo Rune and Lyckängs Tempo has been a huge success in European Fjord breeding, especially within the grey color. Even though highly regarded and proven in Europe, no progeny has yet to cross the big pond … until Wenar!
This genetic combination has also been proven as far as Norway with the Dutch bred stallion Zildar van den Bosdries, who was approved for breeding in 2025.
We have really been blown away by Wenar’s movement, but in general he seems to have quite a calm and easy going personality.
Wenar is currently residing with our partner Ashley Ralph in Kentucky. We are planning on breeding a limited number of mares to Wenar once he comes to WA in 2028. He will not be available for outside mares. Stud colts will only be available with a gelding contract.
