We are thrilled for this beautiful filly by Siljar and out of our red dun mare Jorun to come into our program! Jorina is not just absolutely stunning with excellent bone, a beautifully formed neck and an amazing eye, she has a HUGE personality and is going to be so much fun to watch develop.
Jorina produced a cute brown dun colt with Gio in May 2024. DD Giovanni has exceeded our expectations in respect to his fearless, personable and curious disposition as well as being structurally well put together. Something that certainly was passed on by his mom. We have left Jorina open in 2024 to enjoy her as a riding partner and further her training.
We are planning on breeding her to Hatton's Oskar in 2025!
Jorina has always been "a special child" to us right from the time she was born and literally fell into our arms. She has been extremely personable and easy as a youngster while exhibiting more similarities with her sire than her dam in disposition and movement.
With 2.5 years of age, Jorina was schooled in hand at the Oregon Horse Centers Mountain Indoor Trail, astonishing everyone with her willingness and bravery, while being calm, curious and easy to work with. There is no doubt that she will return under saddle in the future!
With a little over 3 years of age, Jorina was lightly started under saddle and for the first year the riding foundation was set mostly in walk while focusing on some light/short trail exposure, seat and leg aids, turning and starting on lateral work. We have been a little bit surprised that besides her easy calm disposition, Jorina did actually inherited her dam's big motor and incredible movement, something she kept hidden from us as a youngster. We are not sure which side of her pedigree we need to credit for that always willing, curious and always engaged disposition, but we appreciate it every day.
As a 4 year old, Jorina is doing great as a walk/trot horse, enjoys regular lunging in w/t/c, is trailering out to other areas for riding and loves the occasional free jumping. This year we will be focusing on more trail exposure as soon as the footing is decent and the development of the canter under rider.
We may, depending on her progress and condition, will enter her in an intro dressage schooling show in the fall, but since we are also planning on breeding her to Gio this spring, it all needs to fall in place.
We have no doubt that Jorina will be one of the corner stones in our program, both as a riding horse and as a producer.
