Hatton's Oskar x DD Flora by Thorsten
DD Hidalgo
Just like '25 we didn't plan on keeping a stud prospect this year, but then Hidalgo was born. And just like his two half sisters out of Flora, this cross exceeded our expectations and we love his gorgeous expressive head, exceptional balance and exquisite markings.
Hidalgo is a handsome grey dun stud colt out of our 2025 lease stallion Hatton's Oskar.
Originally, we had only planned on keeping a couple fillies from him, but this cross exceeded our expectations and is maybe the nicest foal Oskar produced for us. Hidalgo's mom DD Flora, who is a daughter of our top mare LVG Faksi (Prydarson x Skjenna Gard Fiorgyn by Felix/Flotren), has already produced two of our best homebred fillies. Therefore, we already have quite a bit of his maternal line in our program, yet Hidalgo is not related to Tsjalle and we believe will cross excellent with our Tsjalle daughters. While his dam is rather short with 13.3hh, her 2024 filly is already pushing 14.2hh as a two year old. Since Hidalgo's sire is 14.3hh, we expect him to mature in the 14.2hh range as well. He is already long legged with substantial bone and substance.
We absolutely love Hidalgo's head, which is masculine yet refined with a big expressive eye.
Hidalgo is very personable and one that comes right up when he sees you. Temperament wise, he is in the medium to easy going range. While he is not very reactive, but he is always bright, intelligent and engage.
Such a cool guy and we are excited to watch him grow and mature.
